This week we talk about the transports in the coast area. Concretely of the train that connects the city of Cartagena with Los Nietos. We will talk about their history and the schedules so that this summer they can make the journey between the city and the beach.
This train is called FEVE, by its acronym in Spanish, Ferrocarril de Via Estrecha. It is a public company that depends on RENFE, the train company in Spain. It was created on September 23rd, 1965 and its function was to connect short stretches at the national level, in which the national train network could not reach. On the 31st December 2012, FEVE was integrated into the RENFE company to unify rail transport at the national level.
The great majority of routes are north of Spain, to connect the mining areas and of great difficulty by the land, but in the south we also have the line Cartagena – Los Nietos as we see in the following map:
This line circulates every day of the week, from Cartagena to Los Nietos, and vice versa. In this link we have all the complete schedules.
