In this week’s post we talk about one of the most important festivals of the year, carnivals. In the Region of Murcia we have one of the best known in Spain, the carnival of Águilas.
To know a little about this festivity, let’s talk a little about history. The carnival is a celebration that takes place just before the beginning of Christian Lent. The origin of this celebration is likely to be pagan, such as those performed in honor of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine or the bull Apis in Egypt. But nowadays is a celebration of costumes and music bands.
This year’s carnival is celebrated from February 18 to March 4. It is expected to be one of the best and bad crowd of recent years.
